Don’t take our word for it
Each claim below says what Desorb does and how you can check it yourself, without trusting us.
- Cleanup runs on your PC.
Scanning, filtering, archiving and deleting all happen inside the app on your computer. There is no Desorb server that fetches or deletes your content.How to check: Run a cleanup while watching network connections with Resource Monitor or Wireshark. Traffic goes to the platform, not to Desorb.
- Deletion requests go straight to the platform.
The request that removes a message is sent from your machine to the platform's own servers, using your session.How to check: The same network capture shows requests only to the platform's domains.
- The Desorb server holds a small account record. Nothing from your content.
The app contacts our server for your account and license: your account code, a hash that identifies your PC, the app version and, for Discord, how many items it removed. It does not send your content, platform tokens or filters.How to check: Filter the capture to our domain: you will see account and license requests, and update checks only when you click Check for updates.
- Credentials are encrypted at rest.
Session tokens are stored encrypted with Windows DPAPI, which ties them to your Windows user account. Desorb never asks for or stores your password.How to check: Inspect the data folder: tokens are not present in plain text.
- Logs stay local and are redacted.
Diagnostic logs are written to your PC, credentials are stripped from them, and they are never uploaded. They do not contain message content.How to check: Open the log files in a text editor.
- The lock screen is a convenience, not encryption.
Locking hides the interface and blocks actions, optionally behind a passphrase. It does not encrypt your data on disk. Use Windows disk encryption for that.How to check: Stated plainly in the app itself.

Can this get my account banned?
It is possible. Desorb paces deletions to stay within what platforms expect, but bulk deletion always carries some risk. If the account matters more to you than its old posts, do not use it.
Can I undo a deletion?
No. Deletions are permanent. Turn on Archive first to keep a local copy of everything that gets removed.
Do you store my credentials or content?
No. Desorb runs on your PC. Session tokens stay encrypted there, and your messages, tokens and filters are never sent to us. For Discord, the app reports how many items it removed so the free allowance can be applied.

Discord, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, GitHub, GitLab, TikTok, Twitch, Pinterest, Dev.to, Slack, Mastodon, Tumblr, Imgur, Spotify, Telegram and LinkedIn. The free version removes up to 50 Discord items per PC; every other platform needs Pro.
Which operating systems?
Windows 10 and 11 for now. Linux and macOS are planned.
Is it open source?
No. The engine stays closed to make abuse harder, but what leaves your computer is documented so you can check it yourself.
